Community truth.
What is our communal truth? That in today’s economy, it is hard to make ends meet for ordinary people. Minimum wage is not enough. Eight hours a day is demanded but more often than not, more than that is necessary. Money is our survival. It has been demanded so. It isn’t possible to go without It. We have been endlessly suffocated trying to constantly obtain it, that there is no time for anything else.
What is the creative community truth?
That money isn’t all there is. That passion is purpose. That life can be more than this. That music, dance, writing, painting, filming, design, that these things are what make life worth living. That art in all its forms makes life tolerable at the lowest and rejuvenates us more often. Art transforms us and changes us. It transports us to other worlds and life and identities. Life without these things was the universe before stars. That is what we as a creative community understand. The necessity of art.
So, what is this community’s truth?
There is no support for this. To make this art, to fulfill one’s purpose to pursue one’s passions. To make life beautiful. It isn’t sustainable today. Not when the economy demands so much more from us. There isn’t time left for these moments after 8, 10, 12 hour shifts just to make ends meet. Not when some of us are living in our cars or friend’scouches. When groceries have come from shelters. We have been gifted the ability to create something beautiful of our lives, each of us. Yet only Some feel the burden of achieving it. And yet the path is impossible.
Then, what is a true creative community?
Kollective Kandor.
A network of support. A place for those individuals who want to create, who want to achieve their purpose and pursue their creative passions. These souls brought together helping each other succeed. With the financial freedom, to give them the time and space and sanity to finally create. The collective dream of this organization is to provide housing, food, resources, education, and support for creative individuals who want to pursue their passions. To build them up and give them the space to collaborate together, to support each other, to help one another. To change how art is made. So that the process doesn’t need always be painful. That the artist does not always need to starve. That the community does not need to be isolating....
