Mission Statement
Our mission is managing and developing a multi-media community of creatives through collaboration, experience, and comprehensive support. We are creating an ecosystem where creators from diverse backgrounds can come together, exchange ideas and resources, reaching a point of success that’s economically stable.
Creatives who choose to navigate the entertainment industry without the help of agents, managers, labels and more, often face several challenges, which are amplified by the complexity and competitiveness of the entertainment industry.
Economic Issues:
- Income instability: Many creatives, including musicians, actors, and artists, experience irregular income streams. They may face periods of financial uncertainty and struggle to maintain a stable and predictable income due to factors such as fluctuating gig opportunities, contract-based work, or inconsistent royalties from music sales or streaming.
- Limited access to funding and grants: Securing funding or grants for creative projects can be competitive and challenging. Many artists struggle to access financial support for their work, which can hinder their ability to produce high-quality projects or invest in professional development opportunities.
- Unpaid work or "exposure" requests: Some artists may face requests to work for free or for exposure, particularly in the early stages of their careers. While exposure can be valuable, it does not always translate into tangible economic benefits, making it challenging for artists to sustain themselves financially.
- Unequal distribution of wealth: The music and entertainment industry, like many other industries, can have significant wealth disparities. A small number of highly successful artists and entertainers may accumulate substantial wealth, while the majority of creatives face financial challenges and struggle to make a sustainable living from their craft.
Physical & Emotional Issues:
Mental health and well-being: The pressure and demands of the industry can take a toll on artists' mental health. Dealing with rejection, criticism, and the constant pursuit of success can lead to stress, anxiety, and burnout.
Unhealthy lifestyle habits: Irregular or skipped meals, poor nutrition, lack of exercise, and inadequate self-care can become common for creatives in the music and entertainment industry due to the demands of their work.
Lack of access to healthcare: Many creatives, particularly those who are starting their careers or working independently, may face limited access to healthcare services or have inadequate health insurance coverage.
Creative Issues:
Lack of opportunities for diverse voices: Underrepresentation of diverse voices and perspectives in the entertainment industry can limit opportunities for artists from marginalized communities, hindering the exploration and expression of diverse creative narratives.
Limited access to tools and equipment: Low-income creatives may struggle to afford necessary tools and equipment for their craft, such as: musical instruments, cameras, rehearsal space, software, art supplies, expenses related to studio space, marketing, promotion, or attending industry events, which can impede their professional growth.
Inadequate educational opportunities: Many underserved communities lack access to quality arts education programs, workshops, or mentorship opportunities. This limits their ability to develop their skills, learn new techniques, and gain knowledge about the creative industry.
Limited representation, promotion, and networking opportunities: Gaining visibility and recognition for their work due to limited representation in mainstream media, galleries, and performance spaces makes it difficult toeffectively promote and market their work, leading to limited exposure, sales, and overall success.
